About Lōkahi Makai

Comprised of 192 single-family homes, Lōkahi Makai is located just off Ka’iminani Drive in the northern part of Kailua-Kona. While the community benefits from being peacefully situated on the slopes of Hualalai, it is only 3 miles from the Kona airport and approximately 8 miles from central Kailua-Kona. At an elevation that varies from about 400 to 500 feet, Lōkahi Makai enjoys a relatively dry climate with ample breezes from both the mountain (mauka) and ocean (makai). Average annual rainfall is about ten inches. Winter low temperatures are generally in the low- to mid-60s while summer highs top out right around 90 degrees.

Lōkahi Makai is a planned development, governed by a homeowners’ association (HOA). The community has an annual meeting each February. One of the main purposes of this meeting is to fill any vacancies on the HOAs board of directors. The board meets regularly and is guided by several governing documents, including bylaws, CC&Rs, and design guidelines. In addition to the board, a number of committees have been put in place to oversee the smooth operation of the community. Assisting in these activities, Hawaiiana Management Company, Ltd. serves as the HOA’s management company.
